India tour of Sri Lanka: Indian cricket is entering into a new era, or rather say, venturing in the new era with Gautam Gambhir at the helm of Indian Cricket team. The men in blue start the Gautam Gambhir era with an away tour to Sri Lanka. The Indian cricket team are scheduled to play 3 T20Is and 3 ODIs in their upcoming tour to the island nation. Rohit Sharma will lead India in the ODIs and Suryakumar Yadav will be leading the ‘men in blue’ in the T20Is.
Dinesh Karthik Sings Praises About Gambhir
Gautam Gambhir has always been perceived as someone who wears his heart on his sleeve. This is the manner in which Gambhir has played cricket all his life. Gambhir’s track record as a mentor in the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been nothing but phenomenal. He led Lucknow Super Giants into the eliminators in 2022 and 2023. He outdid himself by mentoring KKR to their third IPL Trophy in 2024.
Dinesh Karthik, Gambhir’s former India teammate has now opened up on Gautam Gambhir‘s appointment as the coach and has lavished high praise on him.

‘He’s a very good leader. I think he will bring two things to the Indian team. One is the fact that he’s a complete players’ man. He protects his players, and that’s very important in international cricket because, at times, you can feel lonely or deserted in international cricket when performances don’t go your way. So, Gambhir is going to do that. And number two, he’ll definitely bring a clever tactical angle to this Indian team. Very fierce, intense guy, and always liked playing for the team and did whatever it took to win a game of cricket.‘, said Karthik on Cricbuzz.
