Kharge asserted that govt should have brought a legislation in the just-concluded budget session to nullify the part of the SC judgement that deals with the issue. He further alleged that it has exposed BJP’s conspiracy to gradually end reservations.
On Friday, the Union cabinet stated there was no provision in the Constitution for a creamy layer in reservation for SCs and STs and that NDA govt is firmly committed to the provisions in the Constitution given to the nation by Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar.
Kharge said Congress will set up a committee and hold consultations on the issue of sub-categorisation, the other issue in the SC verdict, by meeting intellectuals, NGOs and considering the debates in the constituent assembly.
