HYDERABAD: Panjagutta police registered a criminal case against senior BRS MLA T Harish Rao and former Hyderabad DCP (Task Force) Radha Kishan after a politician-cum-businessman from Siddipet alleged that his phone was tapped by the accused.
The complainant, G Chakradhar Goud, who contested on a BSP ticket from Siddipet, lost the 2023 election. Prior to the election, he found that when he contacted his followers and others in connection with the election campaign, his followers used to receive threatening calls not to attend his meetings.
Goud suspects that Harish Rao, using the then intelligence officials, tapped his phone to know his movements. “After the 2023 general elections, I came to know through social media that police are investigating the allegations of phone tapping,” Goud said.
In the past, Goud submitted petitions before Hyderabad police seeking to investigate whether his phone was tapped, as he suspected Harish Rao of using police surveillance against him. However, there was alleged inaction on his complaints from the police. Subsequently, he approached the High Court too.
“In light of the above, I request you to take appropriate legal action against Harish Rao, Radha Kishan Rao, and others involved in these unlawful activities,” the complaint said. Both Harish Rao and Radha Kishan were booked on his complaint.
Panjagutta police registered a different case in March, wherein four policemen, DSP Praneeth Rao, additional SPs Bhujanga Rao and Tirupathanna, and former DCP Task Force Radha Kishan, were arrested. Two more accused, former SIB chief Prabhakar Rao and a senior executive of a media channel, Sravan Kumar, are at large.
Goud, in the past, joined BJP and failed to get a ticket to contest from BJP. It was then he joined BSP and lost the assembly election.
