‘He’s A Wasted Talent’- Football Pundit Graeme Souness’ Gives Harsh Opinion On Paul Pogba

Paul Pogba has come under heavy criticism once more from football pundit Graeme Souness. Pogba is currently facing a ban for testing positive for banned substances. Initially he was given a ban of 4 years but the Court of Arbitration for Sport reduced his sentence down to 18 months. Souness has heavily criticised the World Cup winning footballer in the past and it would seem that Pogba has once again caught some shots coming from Souness’ way. Graeme Souness referred to Pogba as a wasted talent and a lazy player.

Graeme Souness’ Harsh Words On Pogba

Recently on the Three Up Front podcast, Souness went off on Pogba as the French midfielder is planning his return to football after having his ban reduced to 18 months.

“He is extremely talented, but he’s a wasted talent. The worst thing that happened to him was winning the World Cup because from that point on he just sat in his armchair. When José Mourinho was at Manchester United, he called Pogba a virus. He’s a lazy player, but midfield is a position that you have to take personally.

“It’s the only position on the pitch where you’re directly up against someone who’s trying to do the same job as you. I always wanted to have a better day than whoever I was up against, and the only thing I was taught to do was work harder than my opponent. Pogba just goes out to play and show off to everyone how cute and clever he is, rather than trying to make his opponent have a miserable day. He’s got all the ability and athleticism you need; he’s just missing something upstairs,” said Graeme Souness having no pity on Paul Pogba.

Pogba Delighted To Have Reduced Sentence

Paul Pogba was delighted to hear that his sentence was reduced down to 18 months from 4 years by the CAS. Following the ruling, he released a statement expressing his gratitude and his excitement to be back to playing football.

“Following the decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, I can look forward to the day when I can follow my dreams again. I always stated that I never knowingly breached World Anti-Doping Agency regulations when I took a nutritional supplement prescribed to me by a doctor, which does not affect or enhance the performance of male athletes. I play with integrity, and although I must accept that this is a strict liability offence, I want to place on record my thanks to the Court of Arbitration for Sport’s judges who heard my explanation. This has been a hugely distressing period in my life because everything I have worked so hard for has been put on hold. Thank you again for all the love and support. I just cannot wait to get back on the pitch,” wrote Paul Pogba in his statement.
