NEW DELHI: A businessman from Himachal Pradesh’s Hamirpur district was taken aback when he received an electricity bill totaling a staggering Rs 2 billion.

Lalit Dhiman, who runs a business in Beherwin Jattan village, was shocked to find a bill amounting to Rs 2,083,424,016.39 for December 2024.
Upon raising the issue with the electricity office in Hamirpur, the error was corrected, and Dhiman was finally billed a more reasonable Rs 4,047, as confirmed by Anurag Chandel, SDO of the electricity department at Bhoranj.
