Hindi Diwas: PM Modi, Amit Shah on ‘Hindi’s unbreakable bond with every Indian language’ | India News – Times of India

On the occasion of Hindi Diwas, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday extended greetings to the nation.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi wrote, “Many best wishes to all the countrymen on Hindi Diwas,” along with a video highlighting the importance of the language. In the video, PM Modi can be heard talking about the ‘power of language’ and its significance as a medium of communication.

Hindi Diwas, observed annually on September 14, commemorates the day in 1949 when the Constituent Assembly adopted Hindi as one of India’s official languages.

Home minister Amit Shah
Union home minister Amit Shah also conveyed his wishes while emphasing the importance of all Indian languages. He said, “All Indian languages are our pride and heritage. Without enriching them, we cannot move forward.” Shah further highlighted the integral relationship between Hindi and the diverse languages of India. “The official language Hindi has an unbreakable bond with every Indian language,” he added.
“Hindi has seen many ups and downs, but today, it stands strong as a friend to all local languages, be it Gujarati, Marathi, or Telugu,” he said, reiterating the mutual strength shared between Hindi and other regional languages.
In a video message, Shah pointed out the significant work done under PM Modi’s leadership over the past decade to promote Hindi and regional languages. He praised the Prime Minister for delivering speeches in Hindi at international forums, which has helped elevate the status of Hindi on the global stage.
Shah also revealed that the Department of Official Language is preparing to launch an AI-powered portal for translating Hindi into all the languages listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution. This portal aims to facilitate the swift translation of speeches and documents, further promoting linguistic inclusivity.

Health minister JP Nadda
According to union health minster JP Nadda, “Hindi, a powerful carrier of our sentiments, has played an important role in the progress of the nation by binding together the diverse society and culture of the country and by expressing itself through mediums like scriptures, literature, music, etc.” He further highlighted Hindi’s role as a valuable means of communication among the people, from the era of the freedom struggle to the present day.
Defence minister Rajnath Singh
Union minister Rajnath Singh highlighted the importance and need of Hindi language in a video message. He extended his greetings on X with the caption, “Heartiest greetings of Hindi Day to all Hindi lovers and Hindi servants.”
Congress
Congress party shared their greeting for the day on social media. “Hindi language is a symbol of our glorious cultural heritage. It is not just a language, it is a medium to keep our country united. Happy Hindi Day to all of you,” posted the party on X.

Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Dhami
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami extended Hindi Diwas wishes. According to an official release from the chief minister’s Office, “In his message issued on this occasion, the Chief Minister has said that Hindi is a symbol of our culture, feelings, aspirations and ideals.”
“The language of any country helps in connecting with its culture and traditions. Hindi is not just a language but also the identity of our civilization and culture. Hindi is also the basis of the unity and integrity of the country. It is also a continuous ritual that makes us aware of our traditions and our heritage,” said CM Dhami.
UP CM Yogi Adityanath
Urging pledge “to use Hindi as much as possible”, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath said, “Hearty congratulations to the people of the state on ‘Hindi Diwas’! Hindi language is a symbol of our culture, tradition and self-respect; it connects us with a deep sense of brotherhood. We are fully committed to its expansion and development.”
