How Obama used 'diapers' to mock Donald Trump in his first rally for Kamala

Barack Obama who was out campaigning for the first time for Democratic candidate Kamala Harris took a swipe at Donald Trump, using a light-hearted jab to mock the former president.
Campaigning in the must-win state of Pennsylvania, Obama reflected on the responsibilities of parenthood and brought up an amusing moment about changing diapers and questioned whether Trump had ever done the same.
“I remember buying diapers after Malia was born and thinking, ‘That’s how much they cost?’” Obama said to the crowd. “Do you think Donald Trump ever changed a diaper?”
The crowd quickly responded with laughter, with one attendee shouting, “His own!” Obama smiled, admitting, “I almost said that but decided I shouldn’t.”

The rally, aimed at energising young voters ahead of the 2024 election, saw Obama passionately backing Vice President Kamala Harris. He praised her as someone with concrete plans on key issues like housing and taxes, contrasting her with Trump, who he said lacked solid proposals.
Obama questioned Trump’s commitment to voters, saying Trump was more focused on his ego and wealth. He stressed that real strength didn’t come from bullying, a trait he accused Trump of displaying, particularly when it came to male voters who see this behaviour as powerful.
“That’s not real strength,” Obama remarked, encouraging voters to back Harris, who he said embodied American values.
The former president’s comments come as Harris faces a close race against Trump, with both candidates vying for support in key battleground states like Pennsylvania. Obama’s involvement is seen as crucial, particularly with younger voters, a demographic where registration is lagging compared to previous elections.
Obama’s influence, which helped propel Democratic candidates in past elections, remains strong as he continues to campaign for Harris, drawing sharp responses from Trump’s camp. Trump’s spokesperson dismissed Obama’s remarks, suggesting his influence had waned since his time in office.
