NEW DELHI: Andhra Pradesh deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan addressed a rally in Tirupati on Thursday, highlighting issues related to the alleged adulteration of the famed Tirupati laddu prasadam.
Kalyan, who is not directly blaming YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, pointed out that the problem lies with the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) board, established during the previous government.
“Laddu prasadam adulteration is a tip of the iceberg. We don’t know how many crores of rupees they collected during the tenure of (the last) five years. That has to be investigated,” Kalyan said.
In his address, Kalyan stated that the judiciary should consider the multiple charges, including corruption allegations, against Jagan Mohan Reddy before making any decisions in the laddu adulteration case.
He also addressed allegations made by CM Chandrababu Naidu about the use of adulterated ghee in making the laddus.
Kalyan said, “The TDP chief was sharing with MLAs and MPs what exactly had happened, citing a ‘fact’.”
He described the laddu adulteration issue as a significant concern for Sanatana Dharma, which has been under attack for the past five years.
He stressed the need for national legislation to protect Sanatana Dharma, suggesting the establishment of protection boards at both national and state levels with adequate funding.
Asserting his commitment to the cause, he said, “To all pseudo secularists, I will make my stand clear to you today, I am an unapologetic Hindu.”
“Sanatana Dharma is going to stay here. People like you might come and go, but Sanatana Dharma goes on forever. It would not stop. It is beyond.”
Kalyan is on a three-day visit to Tirumala as part of an 11-day penance to seek divine intervention regarding the alleged adulteration. He offered prayers at the Tirumala temple on Wednesday.
