‘I Want to grab it’: 20-Year-Old Paris Bound Athlete Aims To Bring Skeet Shooting Into Mainstream

The Indian contingent at the Paris Olympics will feature a total of 72 debutantes. The bracket contains 20-year-old Raiza Dhillon as well, who is the first woman to secure an Olympic quota in skeet shooting. Dhillon will be gunning for glory at the Paris Olympics and will have the chance to become the youngest-ever Indian medalist at the Olympics.

Raiza Dhillon Holds The Opportunity Of A Lifetime

Ahead of the start of the marquee event, Raiza Dhillon addressed the media and answered a few of the imperative pre-Olympics queries. Republicworld.com was also a part of the session and inquired to know how the young athlete is dealing with the nerves and anxiety that a mega event like the Olympics ought to bring. Raiza admitted that she is both nervous and excited, moreover, laid out the arrangements made by decision-making bodies to appease the mental health of the athletes.

“I think I am both a combination of being nervous and excited. I do have a set of psychologists with me that have been given by you know our federation and by the government as well as the tops program so whether I have any issues I do have a psychologist and then we have meditating practices and session and breathing exercises so yes so I am working on that aspect.”

At 20, Raiza Dhillon could attain history at the Paris Olympics. Besides being the youngest Indian medalist she holds the chance to become an inspiration in the sport. On being asked about the same, she said:

“Definitely, I know that you know this is my first time but I don’t want that to be like an obstacle in my path. I have this opportunity and I want to grab it so I am aiming for you know a good result and you know hopefully a podium finish because that could like change the whole aspect of the sport and bring more people in and give multiple opportunities to other people as well.”
