ICICI Bank has issued a warning for its customers. The country’s second largest bank is warning against lottery frauds where cybercriminals trick you by promising massive amounts of money. The bank is educating the customers about lottery fraud via an email.
Bank’s warning

Bank has also asked the customers not to share their sensitive information.

How to spot a lottery fraud

  • You cannot win a lottery, if you haven’t bought it.
  • They will ask for money, for you to claim the prize.
  • They will ask you to act on the spot, immediately.

“Please remember to report such frauds immediately to the National Cyber Crime department at cybercrime.gov.in or call the helpline on 1930. We at ICICI Bank, believe in helping our customers manage and protect their money,” added the bank.
Tips to stay safe from lottery fraud:

  • If you receive a notification about winning a lottery you didn’t participate in, it’s likely a scam.
  • Legitimate lottery organizations will typically notify winners through official channels, such as registered mail or personal contact.
  • Scammers often require upfront payments for taxes, fees, or shipping costs to claim a prize.
  • Legitimate lotteries never ask for such payments before awarding a prize.
  • Research the lottery organization mentioned in the notification.
  • Check the official website or contact the organization directly to verify the legitimacy of the communication.
  • Scammers may ask for personal information, such as your bank account details or social security number.
