RAIPUR: In an extreme move, a 17-year-old Class XI girl driven by superstition chopped her tongue to offer it to Shivalinga for a wish fulfilment and with blood all around, she has locked herself inside the temple.
She declared that she will be meditating for two days and if anyone tries to enter the temple she will kill herself. The incident has been reported from Sakti district of Chhattisgarh and local villagers have cordoned off the region.
The girl, resident of Devarghata in Dabhra region, has left a note smeared in blood claiming, “If I get up (wake up from meditation) then someone will be murdered. Neither parents nor officials, don’t you understand.” She used the note to communicate after chopping her tongue off.
The bizarre incident was supported by locals and girl’s family and they said that she shouldn’t be disturbed or asked to come out of the temple. No outsider, neither the locals are allowed to enter the temple premises.
Speaking to TOI, Sakti SP Ankita Sharma said that the villagers had a belief not to disturb the girl but due to her health concerns, police and administration team went to the temple and checked her health. Her vitals are all normal and the girl is having food but still inside the temple, SP said, adding that they are monitoring the situation.
An ambulance has been parked outside the temple, in case of emergency. The girl has instructed in her second note that the villagers that she should hear no sound, neither vehicle’s nor men’s.
When police tried to convince her parents to let them intervene and take her to hospital, they also refused to co-operate and they said that their daughter’s condition is fine, she doesn’t need a treatment.
The parents said that the girl is communicating with them in notes and they are satisfied with it.
