In a surprising revelation, India’s rising cricket star Abhishek Sharma recounted an incident that showcased a different side of the usually composed Rahul Dravid. Known for his calm and collected demeanor, Dravid turned aggressive and instructed his players to give back as good as they got during the 2018 Under-19 World Cup quarterfinal match against Bangladesh.

When Rahul Dravid asked his players to sledge
The incident occurred after the Indian team faced abuse from Bangladesh players during the U-19 Asia Cup. Ahead of their World Cup clash, Dravid stunned the dressing room by urging his team not to hold back.
“We had lost to Bangladesh in the U-19 Asia Cup. When we faced them again in the World Cup, Rahul Dravid told us that if they abuse, you also give it back. Nobody expected him to say something like this. We were all very pumped up for that match,” Abhishek shared on the show “Second Innings With Manjot Kalra.”
The motivational talk had a significant impact, as India went on to win the match convincingly by 131 runs. Abhishek played a crucial role, scoring a fifty and taking two wickets. The Indian Under-19 team eventually clinched the World Cup title, marking a memorable chapter in their cricketing journey.
Recently, Abhishek Sharma made his debut for the senior Indian team and impressed everyone by scoring a century in his second game for the Men in Blue. Abhishek made his debut during the T20I series against Zimbabwe earlier this month. India won the five-match contest 4-1.
Rahul Dravid, on the other hand, recently won the 2024 T20 World Cup as the head coach of the Indian cricket team. India beat South Africa by 7 runs in the final to clinch their second T20 World Cup. With the victory, India ended an 11-year-long ICC trophy-winning drought.
