Mumbai: IIT-B’s placement season began on a high note on Sunday with over 45 companies visiting the campus on Day 1. Students said one of the highest offers came from trading firm Da Vinci Derivatives, which extended a Rs 2.2 crore package for roles at its Amsterdam office.
It reportedly offered positions to at least three students, although the final tally of offers remained unclear at the time of going to press. What was also unclear was the number of offers the company made for positions in Mumbai and for those in the Amsterdam office.
Hedge fund firm Jane Street made pre-placement offers; its package last year was Rs 3.7 crore. IMC Trading offered Rs 1 crore for roles in its Mumbai office and shortlisted 10 students.
Graviton, Quadeye and WorldQuant offered domestic roles with packages above Rs 90 lakh. Quadeye additionally brought offers for its Hong Kong office. Students said most leading trading firms presented packages close to or over Rs 1 crore. Computer manufacturing giant Nvidia, consultancy powerhouses McKinsey and BCG, investment management firm Blackstone, Sony Japan, Pine Bridge and GE Aerospace were also among the recruiters.
