Dr Pratik Vijay Tarvadi, a professor and administrator at GMERS Medical College, has been nominated for the Chancellor position at the University of Oxford.
The election for the Oxford Chancellor occurs every 10 years. This year, Lord Hague of Richmond was elected as the 160th Chancellor following a voting process involving over 23,000 members of Convocation. The election used the alternative vote system to narrow the candidates to a final list of five before the selection was made.
Dr Tarvadi’s nomination is connected to his contributions in healthcare education and administration.
He is also an alumnus of the Directors’ Institute—World Council of Directors, which focuses on governance practices. This nomination highlights the participation of professionals from India in global academic roles.
