The IPL 2025 Retention timer is ticking, and October 31st will be the last day for the franchises to submit the list of retained players. Several teams have reportedly made their decisions, and expect some teams to drop huge bombshells in the coming time. Amid the excitement, the IPL’s inaugural champions, Rajasthan Royals , have made up their mind on whom they would be eager to retain in the squad. It will be a headache for them as the team performed exceptionally well in the IPL 2024 season. But the revamped management, which also features Rahul Dravid in the coaching staff, has selected the players whom they want to retain.

Rajasthan Royals Retain Their Core Side As IPL 2025 Retention Deadline Nears
Before the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, the Rajasthan Royals have reportedly selected the players whom they want to retain. They have picked four players as of now, and all of them have delivered impressive performances in the IPL 2024 season. As per ESPNcricinfo, Skipper Sanju Samson , opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, all-rounder Riyan Parag and pacer Sandeep Sharma have been elected in the retentions by RR.
Given that all the IPL franchises can elect six players, from which five would be capped and the remaining ones will be uncapped. They can retain their uncapped players either via retention or by using the Right to Match (RTM) option. Given that RR selected four capped stars, they can elect two uncapped stars via the aforementioned process.

RR did not have to stress upon retaining their core team, as all the selected players, except Jaiswal have performed well in the 2024 season. But he still finds a spot as the young India opener is touted as one of the next big things in Cricket.
However, a couple of notable names were missing from RR’s retention list. India’s Yuzzvendra Chahal, who is the highest wicket-taker in the IPL, hasn’t been picked by the management. Moreover, Jos Buttler, England’s limited-overs skipper, is also not on the franchise’s list of retentions.
