Kamala Harris prepares for surprise cameo on 'Saturday Night Live' 3 days before US election

Democratic presidential nominee and VP Kamala Harris is all set to make a cameo during this week’s episode of “Saturday Night Live.”
A source told the New York Post that the appearance has been kept highly secretive, with a noticeable presence of Secret Service on set. According to the source, Harris will join SNL’s traditionally politics-focused cold open.
Harris campaigned earlier on Saturday with an afternoon stop at Atlanta’s Civic Center and a rally in Charlotte, North Carolina and a guest appearance on ‘SNL’ the final weekend before the election is seen as the Democrats’ final push before Election Day.
This episode, hosted by former SNL cast member John Mulaney, will also feature an appearance from Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.), who is running for a third term against Republican challenger Hung Cao.
Harris has frequently been impersonated by former SNL cast member Maya Rudolph in recent election episodes, much like previous portrayals of prominent politicians on the Emmy-winning show. Hillary Clinton was famously impersonated by Amy Poehler, while Tina Fey’s impression of Sarah Palin became iconic.
Saturday Night Live has hosted a range of political figures over the years, including former President Donald Trump, who hosted in 2004 and 2015; President Barack Obama; Sen. Bernie Sanders; the late Sen. John McCain; and the late President George H.W. Bush, among others.
Controversial former SNL cast member Pete Davidson will also make a guest appearance. This week’s musical guest will be singer Chappell Roan.
