NEW DELHI: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are gearing up to chase a record-breaking fourth IPL title, aiming to solidify their legacy further.
Fresh off their third championship win in 2024, where they dominated Sunrisers Hyderabad with an emphatic 8-wicket victory under Shreyas Iyer’s leadership, the team has undergone significant changes.
Despite leading them to glory in IPL’s 17th season, Iyer was been retained for the 2025 campaign.
Heading into the auction, KKR retained six key players — Rinku Singh (Rs 13 crore), Varun Chakravarthy, Sunil Narine, and Andre Russell (Rs 12 crore each), along with Harshit Rana and Ramandeep Singh (Rs 4 crore each). With a robust Rs 51 crore purse remaining and no Right-to-Match cards, the team had ample room to strengthen their squad.
On Day 1, KKR made headlines by retaining star all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer for a record-breaking Rs 23.75 crore, making him the most expensive all-rounder in IPL history.
They also bolstered their batting lineup by signing explosive opener and wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock for Rs 3.6 crore.
In the bowling department, KKR reinforced their pace attack by acquiring South African speedster Anrich Nortje for Rs 6.5 crore and retaining Vaibhav Arora for Rs 1.8 crore. On the spin front, the seasoned Sunil Narine will be joined by Mayank Markande, snapped up for Rs 30 lakh, adding depth to their spin arsenal.
