Krushna Abhishek impersonates Jackie Shroff on the first day of Kapil Sharma’s OTT show shoot – Times of India

It’s now widely known that Jackie Shroff only allows Krushna Abhishek to impersonate him. We have now learnt that Krushna seized this exclusive opportunity, by impersonating the Bollywood star on the first day of shooting for the second season of Kapil Sharma’s OTT show. A source associated with the show informs us, “Krushna was in his element, leaving everyone in splits with his flawless impersonation of Jackie Shroff.The guests for the episode were Neelam Kothari Soni, Bhavana Panday, Maheep Kapoor, and Seema Sajdeh, the star cast of Fabulous Loves of Bollywood Wives. Krushna briefly switched from Jackie Shroff to Govinda while performing with Neelam on Aap Ke Aa Jane Se (Khudgarz), his mama’s iconic song.”
In May of this year, Jackie Shroff approached the Delhi High Court to seek legal protection for his name, likeness, and the use of ‘Bhidu’, his trademark term closely associated with him. The court ruled in his favour, recognising the importance of protecting his personality rights.

In an exclusive chat with us, while reflecting on his decision to permit only Krushna to mimic him, Jackie Shroff had said, “Krushna is a colleague, a talented actor, and someone I am fond of. He’s superb on his shows, and I think people like his portrayals of different artistes. So, that’s the reason. I see no harm in him impersonating me. I mean, I don’t want people selling things like inners on my name.”
Krushna added, “When I learnt about Jaggu dada approaching the High Court, I was both scared and upset, thinking I might no longer be able to mimic him now that it was legally protected. While I was in America about two months ago, I received an audio note from him, followed by a call. He told me, ‘Tu fikr mat kar, tu kar sakta hai mujhko mimick. Tu karta reh, koi problem nahi hai. Tere ko koi nahi rokega, main hoon na’. That meant the world to me, and I ended up crying on the call with him. As an artiste, it’s incredibly fulfilling to know that he appreciates my portrayal and that’s the reason he has allowed only me to impersonate him. He could have barred me from mimicking him. Even if he had, I would still love and admire him for the rest of my life.”

Krushna joined Kapil’s team in 2018 for The Kapil Sharma Show, which ran for five years. The show then transitioned to an OTT platform with The Great Indian Kapil Show, marking Kapil’s long-awaited reunion with Sunil Grover after several years. The first season, which premiered on March 30, concluded after 13 episodes, and the platform already commissioned a second season. Filming for the new season began on August 13.
