PATNA: RJD chief Lalu Prasad held a closed-door meeting with Hena Shahab, widow of former Siwan don Mohammad Shahabuddin, Wednesday evening. The meeting is seen as a desperate effort by RJD leadership to mend frayed relations and secure her support ahead of 2025 assembly polls, focusing on the Muslim vote in Bihar.
RJD’s performance was lacklustre in the recent LS elections, partly due to discontent among minority voters.Muslims make up approximately 17% of the state’s population.
Sources said Lalu, accompanied by his younger son Tejashwi, visited party MLC Binod Jaiswal’s residence for a private meeting with Shahab. The discussions, lasting over an hour, focused on persuading her to join the party ahead of the assembly elections.
