How the lawyer was scammed
A Kerala-based lawyer from Thiruvananthapuram was duped out of a substantial sum in a stock market investment scam.The scam unfolded when Kumar received a call on his WhatsApp from an international number, offering an enticing investment opportunity that he believed to be genuine. Trusting the caller, he invested a substantial amount of money.
The scammer lured the lawyer with promises of substantial stock market profits. The victim was then added to a WhatsApp group named “Club 88” and directed to download a mobile app called “Block Tigers.”
The lawyer transferred a total of Rs 93 lakh to multiple bank accounts by June 27. When the promised returns failed to materialise, and the scammers became unreachable, the lawyer filed a complaint with the cyber police.
