NEW DELHI: The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, consisting of the Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP (SP), on Sunday targetted the Maharashtra government for its handling of law and order in the state, alleged corruption, and failure to fulfill promises.
During a joint press conference, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray said, “BJP’s condition is so bad, that they are forced to contest under the leadership of thieves and traitors…Let Mahayuti announce their CM face first then we will let you all know who is our CM face.Being in government, Mahayuti should announce their CM face first.”
NCP (SP) supremo Sharad Pawar and Congress leader Nana Patole supported Thackeray’s stance on the MVA’s chief ministerial candidate.
“Whatever Uddhav Thackeray said about CM’s face was quite clear and that is it…Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Scheme was cheating, there is no clarity of budgeting and financial provision for the scheme. If they can make clear and separate provisions for financial support for this scheme we won’t oppose it”
The MVA leaders released a booklet titled ‘Gaddarancha Panchnama,’ accusing the Maharashtra government of betraying the state in favor of Gujarat. The booklet lists alleged corruption in various projects and the government’s “rate card” for purchasing MLAs and corporators, transferring officials, and recruiting for government jobs. The opposition also highlighted the historic rise in prices of essential items and the impact on the lives of the state’s youth due to frequent paper leaks and contractual recruitment.
Congress leader Nana Patole urged voters to remove the Shinde government from power, accusing it of inciting hatred and creating conflicts among castes and communities. Thackeray affirmed that the MVA, once in power, will prioritize job creation.
The assembly elections in Maharashtra are expected to be held later this year, with the current assembly’s term ending on November 26.
