‘Liar, hypocrite’: Social media users call out Biden as he pardons son Hunter – Times of India

US President Joe Biden pardoned his son Hunter Biden of convictions related to gun crimes and tax violations. This decision has landed him in controversies as netizens took their social media account and called him a liar.
“Today, I signed a pardon for my son Hunter,” the president said. The White House confirmed it is a “full and unconditional pardon.”

“I said I would not interfere with the Justice Department’s decision-making, and I kept my word even as I have watched my son being selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted,” President Biden said in Sunday’s statement.
The pardon prevents Hunter Biden from being sentenced or imprisoned for crimes. The scheduled court hearings will likely be canceled. The pardon also covers the period when Hunter Biden served on the board of Ukrainian gas company Burisma, a position that drew scrutiny over foreign business dealings.
As soon as the president announced that he will pardon his son, the netizens started re-sharing old videos of the White House where speaker Karine Jean-Pierre was heard saying, “Will he pardon his son? No.”
One of the users took to X and said, “‘No. No. It’s a no. It will always be a no. Biden will not pardon his son Hunter.’ Guess what? THEY LIED.” Another user said, “Joe Biden has officially pardoned his son Hunter Biden This comes after Biden and the White House lied COUNTLESS times saying Joe would not pardon his son. EVERYTHING THIS ADMINISTRATION DOES IS A LIE!”

Meanwhile, Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene took to her X account and said, “Hunter Biden broke gun laws, he broke the FARA Act, and worst of all, he broke the Mann Act by sex trafficking women across the country. This pardon is Joe Biden’s admission that Hunter is a criminal. Biden tried to throw President Trump’s sons in jail, but he lets his son off free even though he’s a convict. His FBI and DOJ raided Barron’s bedroom and Melania’s closet at Mar-a-Lago. Joe Biden is a liar and a hypocrite, all the way to the end.”

The pardon comes as criminal cases against President-elect Trump have come to a standstill after a sweeping ruling on presidential immunity by the Supreme Court — all but ensuring Biden’s Republican rival will likely never see a jail cell, even after his landmark conviction for falsifying business records in May.
