Life imprisonment for woman after daughter tells cops, court about father’s brutal murder | India News – Times of India

A sessions court in Pithoragarh on Tuesday sentenced a woman to life imprisonment for murdering her husband two years ago. Testimony by the couple’s daughter, a Class IX student, before cops and court against her mother nailed the case.
District govt counsel (crime), Pramod Panth, said, “The court also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000, and in the event of default, the convict will be required to serve an additional five years in prison.Hearing was concluded on July 23.” On Feb 14, 2022, Puran Ram filed a complaint with revenue police, alleging that his sister-in-law, Sunita Devi (40), of Digas village in Pithoragarh, had brutally murdered her husband, Jitendra Ram.
The minor shared the harrowing details of the crime with police and the court, and during the course of investigation, her mother confessed and revealed that she had thrown away the blade used to kill her husband, which the cops subsequently recovered.
