LUCKNOW: An alert loco-pilot promptly brought a passenger train to a halt after detecting a heap of soil obstructing the railway tracks near Raghuraj Singh station on Sunday evening, preventing a potential derailment.
The incident occurred around 8.00pm, as the 04251 Rae Bareli Junction-Raghuraj Singh passenger train was nearing the end of its journey and approaching Raghuraj Singh railway station via the outer tracks.
Raghuraj Singh railway station is situated on the rail line between Unnao Junction and Dalmau Junction.
“The Ganga Expressway is under construction near Raghuraj Singh railway station. Some soil from an overloaded dumper spilled onto the track while crossing a manned level crossing, creating an obstruction,” stated Devendra Bhadoria, SHO of Kheeron.
“Following the alert from the loco-pilot, the obstruction was cleared, and by 8.20pm, rail traffic resumed on the affected route,” added the public relations office of the Lucknow division of Northern Railway.
