A passenger bus rammed into a stationary truck in Maihar district, killing at least 9 people, including a child, late on Saturday night.

BHOPAL: A passenger bus rammed into a stationary truck in Maihar district, killing at least nine people, including a child, late on Saturday night.
The incident took place at around 11.30 pm on National Highway 30 under Dehat police station of the district.
There were 45 passengers on the bus, and it was travelling from Prayagraj to Nagpur via Rewa. It rammed into a truck parked near an eatery on the highway.Of the total 45 passengers who were on board, nine, including a 4-year-old child, have died, while 20 have sustained injuries and are admitted at Satna, Amarpatan, and Maihar hospitals.
The injured were first taken to Maihar and Amarpatan hospitals, and then three from Amarpatan and five from Maihar were referred to Satna district hospital.
The impact of the collision was so severe that the bus was completely damaged. Several passengers were trapped inside the bus. JCB and gas cutter machines were used to take out the passengers who were trapped inside it.
SP Maihar, Sudhir Agarwal, said, “All the deceased are males. The bus rammed on the rear side of the truck that was parked on the roadside. The driver of the bus is also said to be injured. Identification of all the deceased could not be done till now. Most of the people on the bus were from Uttar Pradesh.”
“Of the total nine deceased, six had died on the spot, while three died during treatment. A child is also among the deceased,” Agarwal told TOI.
