Podcaster Joe Rogan‘s new Netflix special has faced severe criticism from the left with many labeling it as “weird,” unfunny, and “stupid” after he mocked the transgender issue and expressed skepticism about COVID-19 vaccines.
Wajahat Ali, a columnist for the Daily Beast, criticized Rogan’s performance on X, stating, “I mean at least be funny if you’re being ignorant and offensive.” He further added that while Rogan’s “cult” may love the special, the comedian is “making too many smart people stupid.” Joshua Reed Eakle, co-founder of Project Liberal, warned against falling into the “‘red pill’ rabbit hole,” claiming that it “rots your brain.”
In the special titled “Burn the Boats,” which premiered on Netflix on Saturday, Rogan defended his controversial views previously shared on his popular podcast and dismissed media critics who accused him of spreading misinformation, Fox News reported.
One particular segment that drew the ire of the left involved Rogan questioning society’s acceptance of biological men who identify as transgender women.
He said that during the standup show that America has become too accepting of trans people.
Rogan stated, “I just want to be real clear. I believe in trans people,” explaining that he thinks “the world is strange and nature is strange, and nature can throw you a curveball and you believe you’re in the wrong body.” He expressed his support for an adult’s right to do what makes them happy, emphasizing his belief in freedom and love. However, he also acknowledged the existence of “crazy people.”
“I’m open-minded. I just want to know what happened,” he continued, “It’s almost like a pervert wizard waved a magic spell on the whole world. ‘With a wave of this wand, you can walk into the women’s locker room with a hard cock, and anybody who complains is a Nazi. Abracadabra!’ And it just works!”
