CHENNAI: Police have arrested a 45-year-old man under the Pocso Act for sexually abusing his six-month-old daughter at Pulianthope on Friday.
Police said the man lived with a woman and their six-month-old daughter in Pulianthope.
On Friday, the child sustained a head injury, and her mother rushed her to the Govt Institute of Child Health and Hospital at Egmore.
Doctors examined the child and found wounds on her private parts.
Following this, doctors informed child welfare committee officials, who lodged a complaint with the Pulianthope police.
Initially, the man denied wrongdoing but under sustained interrogation he confessed to the crime, police said.
The man has been remanded in judicial custody.
