BHOPAL: A young man from Bengal‘s Jalpaiguri survived three nights in the wilderness of Madhya Pradesh after falling from a train and fracturing his leg. Railway gangmen saw Ram Malpahariya on Tuesday during their routine checks and saved his life.
Malpahariya works as a labourer in Chhayapuri, Gujarat, and was headed there when he fell from the train on Saturday.
Unable to walk due to his leg injury, he crawled into the shade of a tree, inch by agonising inch, and waited to be found.
Without food and water, wracked by agony, he survived three days through sheer will power.
On Tuesday afternoon, while inspecting the railway line, gangmen came across Ram near Padarkheda railway station, 34km from Shivpuri.
Railway officials were alerted and he was taken to Shivpuri aboard a goods train. An ambulance was arranged to take him to the district hospital where he is recovering.
