The NFL Christmas Day games broke and made new records as they live streamed both the matches on the streaming giant Netflix for the first time. While Beyonce’s performance was during the half time when the Baltimore Ravens played against the Houston Texans, Mariah Carey’s performance was before the game between the Kansas City Chiefs started playing against the Pittsburgh Steelers. But fans have mixed reactions about her performance.

Fans Were Nostalgic As Mariah Carey Performed At The NFL Christmas Day Games

Mariah Carey began her spectacular performance by singing her popular “All I Want For Christmas Is You” and fans were extremely nostalgic as they heard the song. Many took to X to post about the performance, as one fan wrote, “Mariah Carey could sing the NFL playbook, and it would still feel iconic. Let the Queen of Christmas do her thing!”. But another fan had a very different reaction to it as a fan posted about how the performance looked more like an NFL commercial rather than a performance. The fan took to X to write, “This Mariah Carey performance feels like a Netflix commercial”

However, the majority of the NFL fans supported Mariah and her spectacular performance. Many were also blown away by the performance as fans wished for a new album. As per an interview with the Best Magazine, a few months ago Mariah spoke about her future plans regarding a possibly new album. Mariah said, “I have a lot I want to do. I’m busy. I’m writing new material, so there is new music and a new album coming some time in the future. I’m not sure when. I’m just enjoying the songwriting process.”

While it is not publicly disclosed how much Mariah was paid for her performance at the NFL, there are speculations that it is a big amount, considering Netflix paid over $150 million to NFL for the exclusive rights.

NFL’s Viewership Peaked During The Performances

As per research agency, Nielsen, the viewership peaked when global pop star Beyonce performed during the half time of the Baltimore Ravens and the Houston Texans. As per reports, Beyonce was paid a whopping $20 million, as per the $60 million contract she signed with the streaming giant, Netflix way back in 2019.
Not only were fans excited about the spectacular performances by the global pop stars but also the players had similar feelings. A few days before the game, Lamar Jackson, the quarterback of the Baltimore Ravens spoke about how he will be sneaking out of the locker room when Beyonce performs at the half time when his team, the Baltimore Ravens, plays against the Houston Texans. He also spoke about the whole experience as “dope” since he had never watched Beyonce’s performances live.
