‘Have at least 3 children’: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat flags fall in birth rate

NAGPUR: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghachalak (chief) Mohan Bhagwat stated that a decline in birth rate is a matter of concern. “Population sciences point out that any social group which has a birth rate below 2.1 soon vanishes from the face of the earth. It doesn’t happen because it is annihilated by others. It simply ends even without facing any catastrophe,” said Bhagwat.
The RSS chief was speaking at a function organised in the city on Sunday. He pointed out that many languages and social groups have simply vanished like that. “Even the country’s population policy calls for a birth rate of not below 2.1. This means there need to be at least three children,” said Bhagwat.

Decline in birth rate a concern: Bhagwat

“The numbers are important because of the need to exist, no matter if it is good or bad. The analysis about other things can happen later. There are differences even in a family, but the members share a common bond. Two brothers may not get along well, yet ultimately they stand united,” said Bhagwat.
He stressed that our culture accepts everyone. “The world, which is witnessing such bitter conflict because of ego, fanaticism, and selfish interests, needs to emulate the culture,” he said adding there is no place for discrimination in the name of caste, even in our religious scriptures.
Highlighting the importance of realising self-pride, the RSS chief cited an example of a tiger cub that was brought up by a goatherd along with his flock. “Even after fully grown, the tiger did not realise what it was and remained as timid as the goats. Grazing along with the goats, it encountered another tiger, who made it realise its strength,” he said emphasizing that there is a need to realise one’s pride in this way.
He said the word ‘Hindu’ religion is a later name. “When the scriptures were written, it was mentioned as Manav Dharma (religion of humanity). This is because we did not have the need to have a separate religion, for us, everyone is the same,” he said.
