Napping teacher suspended, staffer who took video sacked | India News – Times of India

AGRA: A teacher of a govt primary school in Aligarh was suspended by a Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) on Monday for “irresponsible behaviour”, days after two “disparaging” videos of her with students (5-10 age group) were widely circulated on social media, reports Mohammad Dilshad.
In the first video, the teacher, Dimple Bansal, could be seen lying on a mat and purportedly taking a nap during a class with a few students fanning her.In another video, she could be seen repeatedly caning some students with a stick. The ‘shikshamitra’ (school official), Vijay Singh, who allegedly filmed the two videos has also been terminated, local officials said.
BSA (Aligarh), Rakesh Singh, told TOI, “Dimple was suspended for beating children with a stick.” Regarding her taking a ‘nap in classroom’, Singh said, “After an investigation, it was found that she slipped and fell from her chair.”
“She wasn’t feeling well, and was waiting for a local doctor to arrive. In the meantime, a few children were fanning her to keep her awake.”
When contacted, Bansal said, “I had fallen from the chair and got unconscious due to which the children were trying to wake me up.” When asked about the beating of students, she alleged, “Mother of one of the students had asked me to hit her because she used to roam in the village rather than attending school.”
A local official said the shikshamitra’s termination process may take three to four days. He added: “Both videos are about a month old and emerged on social media only now.”
