Jharkhand polls: NDA announces seat-sharing pact; BJP gets 68 seats, AJSU 10

RANCHI: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has finalised its seat-sharing pact for the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections.
As per the pact, the BJP will contest in 68 seats while the AJSU party will contest in 10 seats. NDA partners JDU and LJP will contest in two and one seats respectively.

The announcement was made by Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma in a joint presser along with Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, former CM Babulal Marandi and AJSU chief Sudesh Kumar Mahato.
The NDA is looking to unseat the JMM-led government in the state.
Jharkhand assembly elections
Jharkhand will go to polls in two phases on November 13 and 20 and the counting of votes will be held on November 23.
Meanwhile, nomination papers for 43 assembly constituencies in Jharkhand, set to vote in phase 1 on November 13, began today. The nomination process will continue until October 25, with submissions accepted from 11am to 3pm.
Scrutiny of the nominations is scheduled for October 28, and the last date for withdrawal is October 30.
Around 2.60 crore electors are expected to vote, including 11.84 lakh first-time voters, 1.13 lakh individuals with disabilities, third-gender individuals, and senior citizens over 85. This is an increase from 2.23 crore voters in the 2019 assembly elections.
The constituencies going to the polls under the general category on November 13 include Kodarma, Barkatha, Barhi, Barkagaon, Hazaribagh, Baharagora, Jamshedpur East, Jamshedpur West, Ichagarh, Ranchi, Hatia, Panki, Daltonganj, Bishrampur, Hussainabad, Garhwa, and Bhawanathpur.
Scheduled tribal (ST) seats are Ghatsila, Potka, Seraikella, Chaibasa, Majhgaon, Jaganathpur, Manoharpur, Chakradharpur, Kharsawan, Tamar, Torpa, Khunti, Mandar, Sisai, Gumla, Bishunpur, Simdega, Kolebira, Lohardaga, and Manika.
Scheduled caste (SC) constituencies—Simaria, Chatra, Jugsalai, Kanke, Latehar, and Chhatarpur—are also set to vote on the same day.
