Nepal bus tragedy: IAF’s C-130J Hercules bringing home bodies of 25 victims | Lucknow News – Times of India

LUCKNOW: The Indian Air Force’s military cargo aeroplane, C-130 J Hercules airlifted the mortal remains of the 25 bus accident victims from Bharatpur Airport in Chitwan district Nepal, to Jalgaon, Maharashtra, on Saturday evening.
A medical team has been placed on alert at the border, ready to provide any necessary assistance. The bodies of two victims, bus driver Murtaza Khan and conductor Ramjeet alias Munna, who hailed from Uttar Pradesh, will be carried to Gorakhpur via road.
Meanwhile, the remaining 51 unharmed tourists were transported to Gorakhpur via buses, from where arrangements were made to send them back to Maharashtra. The 16 injured victims will continue to receive medical treatment at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu, according to an official source from the Indian embassy in Nepal.
G S Naveen Kumar, the relief commissioner of Uttar Pradesh, stated that following the post-mortem examination of all the deceased victims, their mortal remains will be airlifted to Jalgaon airport. He added that the logistics for the movement of the 51 tourists are still being worked out by Gorakhpur DM.
Wing Commander Jaideep, the public relations officer of IAF Delhi, confirmed to TOI that the C-130 J Hercules has been sent to airlift the mortal remains of the 25 victims from Bharatpur airport to Jalgaon, Maharashtra.
Speaking to TOI, District Magistrate Gorakhpur Krishna Karunesh, said, “The 51 tourists of Maharashtra would be sent to their native state via train once they reach Gorakhpur via road from Nepal. We are coordinating with railways to arrange a 3AC in which they all could be sent back home.”
He said, “The mortal remains of the two deceased victims of UP, bus driver Murtaza Khan of Gorakhpur and conductor Ramjeet alias Munna from Kushinagar district, are being ferried via road from Nepal.”
