No damage to Taj Mahal, says govt | India News – Times of India

Government has informed Parliament that due to heavy rainfall in Sept in the Agra region, a “few water droplets” were noticed on Sept 12 falling from the ceiling of the main mausoleum of the Taj Mahal. However, “no serious leakage, cracks or damage was noticed”.
Replying to a question in Rajya Sabha, culture minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said there was continuous rainfall for more than three days and a few droplets had “penetrated through minor joints”. He said after a detailed inspection and thermal scanning, preventive measures were taken immediately by sealing the joints and gaps to stop water penetration.
