No fuel or GPS: Telangana-based colleague die in Saudi desert

A 27-year-old man from Telangana and his Sudanese colleague died of dehydration in Saudi Arabia‘s Rub’ al Khali desert – where daytime temperatures soar to 55 deg C- after their GPS signal failed, their mobile batteries ran down, and their vehicle ran out of fuel.
Family members of the deceased, Mohammad Shehzad Khan, said the duo – both telecommunications professionals who had been working in Saudi Arabia for the last three years – had gone to the ‘Empty Quarter’, the most perilous part of the desert, to repair a cellular tower on Aug 19.They died sometime between Aug 19 and Aug 21. “The bodies of the two men were discovered on a prayer rug,” said Immigrants Welfare Forum president Bheema Reddy.
