Olympic Bronze Medalist Manu Bhaker Shares a Tentative Timeline on Her Impending Return to Shooting

Paris Olympics ‘ double bronze medalist, Manu Bhaker, reached the pinnacle of her career when she clinched the two bronze medals. As she returned to India after her campaign, her name rose to stardom as she made history with her double medal finish. Bhaker is currently away from shooting as she takes a break from competitive action. She recently offered a tentative timeline for her imminent return to competitive action.

Manu Bhaker Declares She Would Return to Competitive Action by the Next Year, to Begin Training Soon

While speaking to the media in Delhi ahead of the ISSF World Cup Final, Manu Bhaker revealed that she intends to resume her training in November and return to competitive action by the next year. She also declared her primary aim is the 10-metre and the 25-metre pistol events. She also revealed that the three-month break was pre-planned by her coach Jaspal Rana, as he wanted Bhaker to get proper rest before making a return.

“I will be back for the training in November and to the match maybe by next year. I will follow all the action thoroughly. But my eyes will be on the 10-metre event, the 25-metre event, and the pistol events since I am a pistol shooter.”

“I do feel like competing. But before the Olympics , my coach had told me to take three months off since I was facing injuries due to pistol recoil,” Manu Bhaker said.

Bhaker also expressed delight at being able to spend time with her family after arduous work. “I am happy that I got a chance to spend time with my family after a long time. I eat homemade food and enjoy it a lot,” she added.

Manu Bhaker opened India’s medal tally at the Olympics . She won the bronze medal at the Women’s 10m Air Pistol event to become the first-ever female shooter to win an Olympic medal for the country. She won another bronze medal in the mixed 10m Ait Pistol event alongside Sarabjot Singh to add another medal to India’s tally. However, Manu missed out on making history as the first Indian to win three medals at the Olympics after she finished fourth in the women’s 25m pistol shooting.
