NEW DELHI: Amid uncertainty over the chief minister pick after the Mahayuti’s landslide victory in Maharashtra assembly elections, BJP leader Sudhir Mungantiwar on Wednesday dismissed the reports of internal rift between the three parties and said that there was no need to rush the decision.
“The CM will be from Mahayuti. I don’t think there is any haste. When the incumbent government is of one party and the elected government is of another party, there is haste. We still have our government in power, it just has to be renewed. So, I don’t see a need for haste, we are working. Senior leaders (from Delhi) will come, there will be a meeting of the Parliamentary Board,” the BJP leader told news agency ANI.
He also clarified that there is no internal feud in the alliance when questioned about the same.
“There is nothing like that at all … ‘Sholay’ had 2 friends, we are 3 friends. Ye dosti hum nahi todenge,” he added.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis again dodged the question when asked about the top post candidate. He said that the answer would be given soon and a decision was being taken on the same.
Fadnavis, who is BJP’s Maharastra face, is expected to meet the top brass to resolve the impasse among Mahayit over the CM post
“The answer to this will be given soon. All senior members of the three parties of Mahayuti are deciding on this together..,” said Fadnavis.
The Shiv Sena, which secured 57 seats, is making a strong pitch for Eknath Shinde to continue at the top post while the BJP, with 12 seats short of the majority mark at 132 seats, is firm about Devendra Fadnavis leading the new government.
