NEW DELHI: Indian boxer Amit Panghal was eliminated from the competition after a 1-4 points defeat to Zambia’s Patrick Chinyemba in the 51kg category during the Round of 16.
Panghal, who secured a silver medal at the 2019 World Championships, was unable to match the intensity brought by Chinyemba, the current African Games champion, from the onset of the match.
The bout commenced with Chinyemba adopting an aggressive stance, leveraging his energy to put pressure on Panghal. This approach seemed to unsettle Panghal, who opted for a defensive strategy, a move that ultimately did not play out in his favour against the third-seeded Zambian.
