Champions Trophy 2025: The tug of war between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket In India (BCCI) seems to be intensifying with every passing day. Defending champions and the hosts of Champions Trophy 2025, Pakistan are staring at another humiliation as the BCCI is not very keen to send their team to the neighbouring nation for the upcoming ICC event. The Champions Trophy is returning after eight years but has been surrounded by controversies lately.
PCB’s Illogical Demands From The BCCI
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had made its stand pretty clear last year that India was not willing to send the team for the Asia Cup. As a result, the Asian Championship was played in a hybrid model with India playing all their matches in Sri Lanka. The same things seem to happen ahead of the much-awaited 2025 edition of the Champions Trophy.

As speculations about India not travelling to Pakistan looms large, the PCB now reportedly wants the BCCI to provide a written proof that their government has denied permission to send its team across the border. India last played a multi-nation championship in Pakistan back in 2008 and their last bilateral series was in 2012.
‘If the India government declines permission, it has to be in writing and it is mandatory on the BCCI to provide that letter to the ICC now, it is a fact that the we are insistent that the BCCI must inform the ICC about its travel plans to Pakistan at least 5-6 months before the tournament and in writing‘, said a PCB source to PTI.

Who Replaces India If They Pull Out Off Champions Trophy?
India play Pakistan only in ICC events these days with the bilateral relations suspended due to political tensions between both the nations. The Champions Trophy is a tournament that is played among the top 8 cricketing nations of the world. If the tournament is not played in a hybrid model and India pull out, Sri Lanka will replace them and play the upcoming ICC event.
