‘PM is devotee of Bhagwan Shiv, I am devotee of Modi ji’ : Kanwariya carries statue of PM Modi on shoulders | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: The Kanwar Yatra, a pilgrimage attracting lakhs of participants from states in north India, began on July 22 and will continue until August 2. This year, Rupendra Tomar, a pathologist from Baghpat in western Uttar Pradesh, drew significant attention by carrying a statue of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his shoulders during his journey to Haridwar.A devotee of Lord Shiva, Tomar walked the entire distance from his hometown to the holy city.
As a dedicated admirer of the prime minister, Tomar expressed his desire to meet Modi in person and present him with the statue and the holy water from the Ganga. “PM Modi is a devotee of Bhagwan Shiv and I am a devotee of Modi ji,” he said.
Upon reaching Har ki Pauri, Tomar bathed the statue of Modi in the sacred waters of the Ganga. “When Modi became prime minister for the third time, we had resolved that we will take his statue to Haridwar and bathe it in the Ganga,” Tomar explained.
Tomar praised the prime minister’s achievements, particularly the dedication of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya to the Hindu community, which he believes has brought happiness to the entire nation. The statue, weighing eight-and-a-half kilograms, took two to three months to create, and Tomar estimates that he has spent between Rs 70,000 and Rs 80,000 on this pilgrimage so far.
After completing the holy bath, Tomar began his journey back to Baghpat, carrying the statue of Prime Minister Modi on his shoulders once again.
