This year, a total of 14 Indian full-time MBA programmes have secured positions in the latest Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) global list for 2025. In the QS Global MBA Rankings 2025, IIM Bangalore has once again emerged as the best performer from India. However, it has dropped out of the world’s top 50 rankings. Along with IIM Bangalore, three other institutes— IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Calcutta, and the Indian School of Business—have found places in the top 100.Additionally, three Indian institutes have made their debut in this year’s rankings. Globally, Stanford Graduate School of Business has retained its number one position, just like last year.
QS Global MBA Rankings 2025 vs. 2024: A look at the top 10 Indian institutes
In the QS Global MBA Rankings 2025, several Indian management institutes saw shifts in their positions compared to 2024. IIM Bangalore dropped slightly from 48th place in 2024 to 53rd in 2025, while IIM Ahmedabad moved from 53rd to 60th. IIM Calcutta also experienced a decline, slipping from 59th to 65th. Similarly, the Indian School of Business saw a decrease in its ranking, falling from 78th in 2024 to 86th in 2025.
IIM Kozhikode made its debut in the 151-200 range in 2025, having not been ranked in 2024. Both IIM Indore and XLRI-Xavier School of Management maintained their positions in the 201-250 range. On the other hand, IIM Lucknow and IIM Udaipur dropped from the 151-200 range in 2024 to the 201-250 range in 2025. The Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad, entered the rankings for the first time in 2025, appearing in the 251+ range.
QS Global MBA Rankings 2025: How the Top 10 Indian institutes performed on various parameters
In the QS Global MBA Rankings 2025, several Indian institutes show varying performance in terms of overall score, employability, and return on investment (ROI).
IIM Bangalore leads with the highest overall score of 67.4, scoring 70.7 for employability and an impressive 84.8 for ROI. IIM Ahmedabad follows with an overall score of 63.3, scoring 64.5 in employability and 80.8 in ROI. IIM Calcutta ranks closely with an overall score of 62.6, showing stronger employability (68.3) but a lower ROI (76).
The Indian School of Business scores 58.3 overall, with employability at 54.5 and a decent ROI of 71.4. IIM Kozhikode, IIM Indore, IIM Lucknow, and IIM Udaipur do not have overall scores but show moderate employability (ranging from 40.4 to 43.9) and ROIs between 60.3 and 64.4. XLRI-Xavier School of Management also lacks an overall score but has employability at 40.7 and a relatively lower ROI of 52.1. Lastly, the Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad, scores the lowest on employability (30) and ROI (48).
