Rift in MVA? It’s Sanjay Raut vs Nana Patole over CM face in Maharashtra | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut and Congress leader Nana Patole locked horns over chief ministerial face and possible power dynamics in government formation in Maharashtra a day after assembly elections concluded in the state. As the two allies exuded confidence over the government formation of Maha Vikas Aghadi, disagreements were witnessed after Patole said that the government would be formed under “Congress leadership” with Raut outrightly rejecting the claim.
“Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government will be formed in Maharashtra under the leadership of Congress,” Patole said a day after exit polls predicted majority for BJP-led Mahayuti.
Strongly denouncing the claim, Raut said, “I will not accept this and no one else will accept this. We will sit together and decide if Nana Patole has said this and if Nana Patole has the Congress command.”
Raut added that any such statement had to come from Congress high command.
“The Congress high command has said that if you are becoming the chief minister, then Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Sonia Gandhi should announce it,” he said.
The two parties had also witnessed fissures due to disagreements over seat sharing ahead of the Maharashtra polls.
