NAGPUR: The key accused in the Ram Jhula accident case Ritika Maloo was arrested by State CID in a midnight swoop on her residence at Deshpande Layout in Wardhaman Nagar on Thursday.
The CID moved hours after the judicial magistrate first class (JMFC), in an unprecedented move, opened the courtroom at 10.30pm and allowed the agency to arrest Maloo, after sunset, despite being a woman.
This followed dramatic developments on Wednesday with sessions court quashing Maloo’s bail and allowing CID to arrest her, 214 days after her Mercedes mowed down two on Ram Jhula.
Ten CID sleuths, including two women cops, entered one of the residences of the Maloo family, shortly after midnight. The women cops were the first to enter with two of their male colleagues. After 40minutes, the team came out without Maloo and proceeded to the fifth bungalow of the Maloo clan in the lane.
The woman cops soon came out with a woman, who was seated in the middle seat, flanked on both sides by the woman cops. The vehicles sped away at around 1.45am with the woman, presumably Ritika Maloo.
