NEW DELHI: Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren on Wednesday compared the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh with “rats” and BJP as “party of traders” claiming that both the BJP and the RSS are trying to disrupt the state’s communal harmony for political gain ahead of the upcoming elections.
Speaking at a rally at Bhognadih in Sahibganj Soren said, “RSS is invading the state like rats and destroying it.Chase such forces away when you see them entering your villages with ‘handia’ and ‘daru’ (locally brewed liquor)…They want to create communal disturbances and tension ahead of elections for political gains.”
Addressing the rally virtually from Ranchi, the Jharkhand CM alleged that the BJP is actively promoting discord between the Hindu and Muslim communities, specifically pointing at Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and questioning why he was in Jharkhand when the tribal population in in his own state faces various atrocities, according to news agency PTI.
Soren continued stating that the BJP is determined to promote hatred among different communities, anticipating a rise in inflammatory events like throwing meat into temples and mosques.
He described the BJP as a party of traders and industrialists, alleging that it purchases political leaders to further its objectives, that seemed to be a a reference to the former Jharkhand CM Champai Soren, who recently joined the BJP, stating that he was “disrespected and humiliated” by the JMM.
The chief minister rejected the BJP’s accusations of demographic shifts in Jharkhand, proposing that those making such claims should examine the demographic statistics of the neighboring state of West Bengal.
