‘Rule has been changed for Dhoni Sahab’: Mohammad Kaif drops biggest bombshell about IPL

In a stunning revelation, former India all-rounder Mohammad Kaif has suggested that the Indian Premier League ( IPL ) has changed its rules to accommodate the legendary MS Dhoni . Kaif believes that the IPL’s old uncapped player rule has been revived specifically for Dhoni, allowing him to continue playing in the league.

Bombshell in the IPL : Rule change for Dhoni?

Speaking on Star Sports, Mohammad Kaif praised MS Dhoni ‘s fitness and performance, saying, “You will get the chance to see MS Dhoni again. He is fit, batting at a strike rate of 200, keeping well, and that is why I believe the rules will keep changing till he wants to play. If he wants to play in the IPL , he will play. He is such a big player, such a big match-winner, and has been a leader for CSK.” Kaif emphasized that Dhoni’s stature and match-winning ability make him an exception, and the rule change is justified.

“I believe the rule has been changed rightly. I believe if he is fit and playing well, why not, change the rule and let him play. Everyone knows the rule has been changed for Dhoni sahab, and why not, you will want to change the rule for a player like Dhoni,” the former India batter added.

The new rule states that an Indian player will be classified as uncapped if they haven’t played in the starting XI in any international match in the last five years or don’t hold a central contract with the BCCI. This change has raised eyebrows, with many speculating that it has been introduced to allow MS Dhoni to play without being classified as a capped player.

Contrary to expectations, MS Dhoni did not announce his retirement from the Indian Premier League ( IPL ) after Chennai Super Kings (CSK) failed to qualify for the playoffs in the previous edition. This surprise move has ignited hopes that Dhoni may continue to play in the league, and CSK will be more determined than ever to win the IPL title next year, primarily as a tribute to their legendary captain.
