Salman Khan house firing: Accused allege receiving death threats from Dawood Ibrahim gang

NEW DELHI: Family members of Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, accused in the firing outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan‘s house in Mumbai, have requested protection from the Maharashtra and Bihar governments.

They allege a conspiracy to kill the accused, orchestrated by Dawood Ibrahim’s henchmen.
The request for protection follows the April 14 arrest of Lawrence Bishnoi gang members Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal in Gujarat.
“Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal have given an application to the authorities for protection of their lives. They say that they are being threatened by D Company. The accused have informed their families about this,” said Vicky Gupta’s lawyer.
“The victim (Salman Khan) has known relations with a gangster, perhaps he wants to get the accused killed, this is the allegation of the accused (Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal). We’ve written to the Central government, Maharashtra and Bihar governments for their protection.”
Letters requesting protection were written by Sonu Gupta, Vicky Gupta’s brother and Rahul Pal, Sagar Pal’s brother.
Both accused are currently imprisoned in Taloja jail.
According to the letters, conspiracies to kill them have been communicated to both brothers during their detention.
The incident involving the firing outside Salman Khan’s residence occurred on April 14, when two men on a motorcycle opened fire.
Another accused, Anuj Thapan, was arrested on April 26 from Punjab along with another individual. Thapan was found dead on May 1 inside the washroom of the crime branch’s police lock-up.
The Mumbai Police have invoked the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against all those arrested in connection with the firing incident.
The Mumbai Crime Branch has also declared gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his brother Anmol Bishnoi as wanted accused in the case. Anmol Bishnoi claimed responsibility for the firing in a Facebook post shortly after the attack.
Family members of the accused are concerned about their safety in jail, citing threats from Dawood Ibrahim’s network and connections with organized crime.
