“Next question, please,” Harris said during her first interview with CNN’s Dana Bash in Georgia since becoming the Democratic presidential candidate.
Trump had recently made false claims at National Association of Black Journalists conference in Chicago that Harris, the first Black and Asian American vice president, had only previously highlighted her Indian heritage. “I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black and now she wants to be known as Black. So, I don’t know, is she Indian or is she Black?” Trump said.
Harris in a joint appearance with her running mate Tim Walz told Bash that she believes the most important and significant aspect of her policy perspective and decisions is that her values have not changed.
Reaffirming her commitment to serve as president for “all Americans,” Harris mentioned in the interview that she would include a Republican in her Cabinet if elected, although she did not specify any particular individual.
