NEW DELHI: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached out to the Indian men’s hockey team to extend his heartfelt congratulations on their remarkable bronze medal victory at the Paris Olympics. This win marked the team’s second consecutive Olympic bronze, a feat not achieved since 1972, underscoring their resilience and determination.
Modi’s message, conveyed via a phone call, was a moment of high significance for the players and coaching staff.He began the conversation by addressing Team India‘s captain, Harmanpreet Singh, as “Sarpanch Sahab” (chief), who was holding the phone.
“Congratulations to you and your team. You have brought great honour to India,” Modi said. He praised the team for their grit and spirit, especially their comeback in the bronze medal match against Spain.
