NEW DELHI: In the wake of the oath ceremony of CM-designate Hemant Soren, schools in Ranchi will be remain closed on November 28.
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader will take oath as the 14th chief minister of Jharkhand on Thursday at Morabadi Ground in Ranchi.
The oath will be administered by governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar. This will be the 49-year-old JMM leader’s fourth stint as chief minister. Soren retained the Barhait seat by defeating BJP’s Gamliyel Hembrom by a margin of 39,791 votes in the recently held Assembly polls.
“I’m grateful to the people of Jharkhand for their continued trust in our leadership,” Soren said, adding, “This victory reflects the aspirations of the people, and we will work towards fulfilling them.”
Hemant Soren’s JMM-led alliance secured a decisive victory in Jharkhand, clinching 56 out of 81 seats in the assembly and earning a second consecutive term in power. This win defied few exit polls, which had predicted a BJP-led NDA triumph.
The alliance, consisting of the JMM, Congress, RJD, and Left parties, outperformed the BJP, which managed only 21 seats alongside three seats from its allies. With the majority mark set at 41, this marks the first instance of an incumbent government being re-elected in Jharkhand since the state was established on November 15, 2000.
