‘Should I be upset?: Trump ‘very offended’ over Putin’s endorsement of Kamala Harris – Times of India

Former President and GOP nominee Donald Trump has expressed his ‘frustration’ over Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris. Putin’s remarks, delivered in a seemingly sarcastic tone, praised Harris for her “infectious laugh,” prompting speculation that his comments weren’t sincere. Despite this, Trump reacted seriously to Putin‘s statement, initially unsure how to interpret the endorsement, before later declaring that he was “offended” by the Russian leader’s support for Harris.
Trump made his feelings clear at a rally in Wisconsin on Saturday, saying that he was “very offended” by Putin’s remarks. He reflected on his past relationship with the Russian leader, saying, “I knew Putin well, and now he endorses Kamala.” Trump also wondered aloud if the endorsement was meant to be taken lightly or was a calculated move, saying, “Should I be upset? Was it done with a smile? Who knows?” Despite feeling insulted, Trump claimed that no US president had been tougher on Russia than him, emphasizing his previous stance.
“I didn’t know, was I supposed to call him up and say thank you very much, I appreciate it?” Trump said at the rally.
“I don’t know – I don’t know exactly what to say about that. I don’t know if I’m insulted or he did me a favour?” he added.
Putin’s comments came during a speech on Thursday at the Eastern Economic Forum in Russia, where he sarcastically encouraged his supporters to back Kamala Harris, following similar endorsements from President Joe Biden. Putin also mentioned Harris’s laugh, calling it “contagious,” suggesting it indicated that everything was going well for her. Trump, however, did not take this lightly. In the days following Putin’s statement, Trump’s initial uncertainty about whether to feel insulted or grateful for the endorsement shifted into outright frustration.
At the same time, Trump dismissed concerns raised by the Justice Department about Russia’s potential interference in the upcoming US election, mocking the renewed focus on the issue. “It’s Russia, Russia, Russia all over again,” he said, downplaying the significance of the interference accusations. He also promised that, if re-elected, he would resolve the war between Russia and Ukraine quickly, though he did not provide specific details on how he would achieve this goal.

‘You Just Stop…’: U.S. Boils After Putin ‘Endorses’ Kamala Harris; Ugly Spat Breaks Out

White house responds to Putin
National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby responded to Putin’s comments on Thursday, stating: “Mr. Putin should stop discussing our elections and refraining from favoritism. Only Americans should decide their next president. We urge Mr. Putin to cease both his commentary and interference in our election process.”
